OPU Ventures

Writing stories and ideas that help us understand who we are — and who we can become.

Fiction and nonfiction exploring leadership, resilience, history, and the human condition.

Purpose

OPU Ventures is an independent writing platform focused on thoughtful storytelling and disciplined ideas, built on the belief that knowing what you’re doing and thinking before acting are still useful skills, even if enthusiasm sometimes tries to skip ahead.

Here you’ll find essays, commentary, and long-form fiction exploring leadership, survival, belief, responsibility, and the systems that shape people and communities, guided by actually doing the work and trying to treat people decently, with mixed results and occasional course corrections.

This site serves as a home for ongoing work, developing projects, and published reflections, written with intent rather than noise, and with the quiet understanding that growth usually involves effort, mistakes, and realizing—slightly too late—that the earlier draft probably needed one more pass.

Writing (Blog)

Short-form essays, commentary, and reflections on leadership, culture, sport, film, history, and the craft of writing—with the occasional, entirely justified rant about New England weather and traffic.

Nonfiction

These nonfiction works are grounded in Epistēmē, Idea, Praxis, and Agapē—knowledge, clarity, action, and care applied to leadership as a practiced responsibility rather than a title. They focus on accountability, decision-making, and culture beginning not on day one of employment, but the moment an applicant clicks “apply.”

Interwoven throughout is lived experience with anxiety, impostor syndrome, and the effort of appearing competent while your brain occasionally disagrees. Rather than weakening leadership, these pressures sharpen it, arguing that resilient leaders are built early, shaped by adversity, and improved through humility, reflection, and immediate ownership of mistakes.

Fiction

These works range from post-conflict and historical settings to speculative and contemporary narratives, grounded in realistic characters and believable systems that behave the way systems tend to behave—imperfectly, under pressure, and usually at the worst possible moment.

Original novels and developing story worlds explore conflict, resilience, faith, and identity, with a particular interest in how ordinary people adapt when ideals collide with reality, plans fail, and survival requires more than optimism.

About

I’m a writer and daydreamer focused on the intersection of leadership, resilience, history, and human choice.

My work spans fiction and nonfiction, with an emphasis on clarity, realism, and ideas that matter beyond the page.
